Little Yarn Friends

I have been crocheting up a storm! Lots of little fun things but sshhh, some of them are secrets!! Not to be revealed before Christmas.

I did finish a little turtle that’ll be happy to meet you:

I was looking at amigurumi patterns on Ravelry and found a really great blog; Little Yarn Friends has several cute (and free) patterns, my favorite is Lil’ Bunny Cupcake which is definitely near the top of my to-do list now πŸ™‚

Moose in the woods hat (crochet)

I just finished another test crochet for Holly Marie! This time it was for her crochet version of her Moose in the woods hat Here is a picture of mine:

And here are my notes from my project page:

Testing for holly1223 again, loved the skull and bones hat to much to pass this up πŸ™‚

Finished! Love how this turned out, I used an H hook for the whole thing and added a row of green Sl St on the bottom for a little more color.

This is a great pattern! Easier color changes than the skull hat so it would be really good for a beginner in Tapestry work πŸ™‚

Bare Bones hat (crochet version)

I was lucky enough to get to test the crochet version of the Bare Bones hat from Holly Marie Designs and I really love how it turned out! So here is a picture and my notes from my project page on Ravelry:

Loving this pattern, I’ve never worked a hat from the bottom up before but it’s a lot more fun then top down.
Used an H hook for the whole thing including the band because I have a large head and G wouldn’t have fit.

National Quilt day

March 17th is National Quilt day here in the U.S.A. and I thought to celebrate that, and St. Patrick’s day, I would redecorate with a green quilted background!
And if you would like to join in the fun and make a Ohio star with a Mariner’s Compass center designed by Martha Ethridge then you will want to check out the National quilting association‘s free projects page for the PDF of that pattern and several others as well.
I’m a beginner quilter so I don’t think I will attempt much (if anything) this year but I’m enjoying the Craftsy: Block of the month course which is a free introduction to quilting with 2 new squares a month!!

Since it is also National (International) crochet month I’ve been working on several crochet projects including a thread rose, a scarf, and a pair of slippers.
I’ll at least have the slippers done this month but who knows about the rest πŸ™‚

Celebrating Ravelry and National crochet month!!

Ravelry is celebrating two great events this month! They just reached their 2,000,000th member!!!!!! Wow!!!! Congratulations to the whole Ravelry team and all of rav’s great members πŸ™‚

And this month is also National crochet month here in the U.S.A. but Ravelry celebrates it as International crochet month every year so everyone can join in the fun and if you want to check out their great 5th annual party (includes Cals, prizes, and just general fun) here is the group link You can find me participating in the Mystery cal and maybe some of the games πŸ™‚

March is also National craft month so it’s a great time to drag out any unfinished projects that have been hanging around (I have several!) and finish them. I will be celebrating National craft month the same way I’m celebrating National (International) crochet month: LOTS OF CROCHETING!!!!! πŸ™‚ Although I might throw in some jewelry projects too and maybe try my first tatted doily or bookmark.

New crocheted FO’s

I have a few projects that I thought I would share, I’m debating on what to start next…. Probably another shawl πŸ™‚ And I have a slip stitch and lace scarf that I’m working up (and I’m still working on my freeform project but that one will take a while!)

First up, I finished the Elise shawl and I love this pattern!!! Highly recommend it πŸ™‚ Especially if you’re not to sure about starting a lace project, I love lace (and thankfully it’s making a comeback in crochet!) but it can be intimidating if you’ve never done it before.

Next is a skinny ruffle scarf that I made up the pattern for (will be making plenty more, it’s a fun and quick project) I used this in a challenge on the Ravelry forum Nerd Wars (Go Team Pineapple!!!!!) This is my second tournament but first time I’ve actually had time to participate so hopefully I’ll a few more projects to turn in.

And lastly, I crocheted a lacy necklace and added a really pretty pendant (I will probably be making more of these as well, I love thread crochet but necklaces, earrings, and bracelets are about all I have the patience to do, no doilies 😦 Which is especially bad since I started crocheting because I fell in love with a pansy doily :-))
