(Team) Pineapple goodness

I may have mentioned something about the Nerd wars group on Ravelry at one point or another, it’s a fun crafting tournament of geekiness and I’ve participated in tournament 3 and tournament 4 on Team Pineapple (which is based on my favorite tv show Psych) I really love the fun we Pineapples have and I want to take a quick moment to thank a few people:
Our team captain: laweinberger
Our team manager: Loveofnature
Our team blogger: lebeau
Oddstitch
knittinfiasco (who introduced me to the team)
and all the rest of my fellow Pineapples!!
I’m hoping to be on Team Pineapple for T5 as well (since it’s where all fans of delicious flavor tend to end up ;))

Thanks guys!!

I had a lovely surprise at the end of round 4, I won the beautiful yarn you see to the right in a drawing!!! So thank you Oddstitch, laweinberger, and Loveofnature!!!! I don’t yet know what I’ll make with it but I’m sure I’ll think of something!

Congratulations to the Nerd wars T4 champion; Team Rangers!! And to the runner-up; Team Squints!!
And if anyone’s interested in joining in all the Nerd wars fun, sign-ups are May 15 – 26, 2012.

I may be obessessed with expensive Lego sets

Lego’s are something I only got interested in relatively recently, when I was a little girl I preferred blocks but I did occasionally like to play with my brother’s Lego’s. He has tons of Harry Potter sets as well as Lego city and some off-brand ships and planes, and when he gave me an old plane that he didn’t like because it kept falling apart, I just had to see if I could put it together on my own. Totally ignoring the directions I finally came up with something that, other than having shorter wings, did look a lot like the plane was supposed to. I love that plane and I love taking him apart (yes, it’s a him and his name is Charlie) and putting him back together but I still wasn’t interested in buying my own sets until my brother received a Lego police station as a gift.

The tiny details were simply amazing, everything from a water cooler to a post box and it even has skylights! So…. I declared right then and there that I hoped they came out with a Lego bookstore because if they did I would have to have it! While I’ve yet to see a bookstore, I did find a pet shop that is sooo cute!!! (Of course, at $149.99 it had better be cute)

So here is my list of “Oooh, I want!!” Lego’s starting with my top pick:
(From here on out if you click on the picture it will take you to the official Lego store)

1. is the Grand Emporium, a three story department store complete with clothes, perfume, housewares, toys, and an escalator. $149.99

2. Is from some of my favorite movies, the original three Star wars!! My favorite character (besides the adorable Ewoks and R2-D2!) is Han Solo so I really love this Millennium Falcon set. $139.99

3. Is the aforementioned pet shop that also has an townhouse attached to it. $149.99

4. Is the Space needle which is fun to look at though obviously not really meant for play. It’s also the cheapest on this list at only $19.99

5. Is the last set that I’m going to add and is also the most expensive at $239.99 It is the Tower Bridge set and is just amazing!! I’d love to try building this πŸ™‚

So there you have it! All the Lego sets that I wouldn’t mind having. If I bought all of these it would add up to $699.95 so I think I’ll restrain myself! (All I have to do is think of all the books or yarn I could buy with that!) πŸ™‚

Sunshine blog award!!

I was nominated for the Sunshine Blog Award!!!!
YAY!!!
Thank you Marianerika!!!!!

Here are the rules:

1. Include the award logo in your post or on your blog

2. Answer 10 questions about yourself – You can make up your own or you can use mine

3. Nominate 5 – 10 other wonderful bloggers

4. Let the other nominees know they are nominated and include links to their blog

5. Link the person who nominated you

Let the fun begin:

1. Hardcover or paperback, and why?

Depends on how much I think I’ll read it, if it’s something I know I love than definitely hardcover so it will last longer but I’m not opposed to paperback either and since paperback is normally cheaper that’s what I usually get.

2. What food would you never say no to?

Chocolate or lasagna or bulgogi, or fresh-baked breads or jaeger schnitzel or pringles (perhaps the question should have been “what food would you never say yes to?” :))

3. What book are you currently reading?

I’ve got four started right now: The Winking Ruby Mystery (The Dana Girls Mystery Stories, #19) by Carolyn Keene, A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire #2) by George R.R. Martin, Emily’s Quest (Emily of New Moon #3) by L.M. Montgomery, and A Hat Full of Sky by Terry Pratchett.

4. The author (alive or dead) I would love to have lunch with would be:

Alison Croggon!!! I love the Pellinor quartet and I think she’d be really interesting to talk to.

5. If I was going to a deserted island and could only bring one book, except for the SAS survival guide, it would be:

One book??!! How is that possible?????!!!! Hmm, well my favorite book of all time is The will of the Empress by Tamora Pierce so I guess I could manage to survive with just it.

6. What’s your dream vacation?

A trip to Europe that includes England, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, and Germany or a trip to Salem MA (they have both a witch museum and a pirate museum and a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream shop!!!) or a trip to Australia (which would work great with my plans of lunch with Alison Croggon ;))

7. What are your favorite TV shows?

Psych (how could they end the season like that??!!!)
Leverage
White Collar
Warehouse 13
Doctor Who
Covert affairs
Merlin

8. If I could be the lead character in a book (mention the title), it would be:

I’ve actually never thought about this, I always figured if I was going to jump into one of my favorite books it would be as myself but India in The Winter rose by Jennifer Donnelly is probably the most like me so I wouldn’t to unhappy with her.

9. The most overestimated book of all times is:

Twilight or The Hunger games

10. I hate it when a book:

Puts in a totally unnecessary epilogue or when my favorite character dies.

1. Lou from louslabors

2. Renate Kirkpatrick from rensfibreart

3. The gang over at puretextuality

4. Sally from sallysbakingaddiction

5. Morgan sin from pinsandpatience

Spring?

Is it or isn’t it? That’s a pretty good question but since I love Spring so much I decided to celebrate it anyway!

Shopping for summer

I was looking for some new tops today for summer (or now if the weather stays as warm!) but I didn’t really find much, on the other hand I found a gorgeous skirt on clearance at Target and I got a new pair of sandals too πŸ™‚

I’m also going to try to grow herbs indoors, I’ve got Oregano, Basil, Chives and Thyme and some pots (still have to get some potting soil) but I’m looking forward to trying this. I wanted some Sage too but couldn’t find any, guess I’ll start with what I have and maybe later I’ll add more if I want to (and if I don’t kill the ones I have!)
I’ve seen a lot of different things about herb gardening so it’s kind of hard to know where to start.

I was in Lowes the other day and saw the cutest windchimes (they make me laugh every time I see them) the crazy looking Dodo bird is super cute and the chimes have a nice sound to them too.

I love visiting Lowes in the Spring! They always have the loveliest patio furniture and flowers, but then, I love visiting about any time of year, I could spend all day looking at the kitchens alone!
(but then I have to look at the lighting fixtures, paint colors, front doors
and bamboo blinds πŸ™‚ )
