Christmas Crafting

I’ve been shamefully neglecting my blog (again) but I swear I’ve had good reasons! I’ve been busy with Christmas (and other) crafting, the slide show below is what I’ve finished up lately (that isn’t still secret! Which reminds me; I should really wrap some presents!!)

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

And yes, there will be more after Christmas! 🙂

Learning to draw

I had to set down the tatting shuttles for a while as I’m really not getting anywhere with it (but I’m not giving up! After all, it took me nearly 3 years to teach myself to crochet ’cause I kept getting frustrated with it, but I just couldn’t stay away forever!! And tatting is just to beautiful to give up on!!) But to occupy myself in the meantime, I decided to do something I’ve loved since I was a small child (I’m sure the title of this post gives it away ;)), drawing is so much fun and it’s easy to learn right off the internet for free!
Interweave's "Artist Daily" site has a selection of free downloads that include Drawing Basics, Oil Painting Techniques, and Watercolor Instruction, Wikihow also has a good selection of drawing “how-to’s” including how to
Draw a Medieval Castle which I used this evening to learn how to draw the picture below. For the moment I’m concentrating on sketching and having a lot of fun with it but I may branch out into painting eventually.

My first castle!!!

New scarf FO

Finished another Christmas present! And this one I can actually share here before the holidays 🙂

Just a simple scarf made from Dewdrops by Loops and Threads, it’s soft and sparkly and warm! I used size US 15 – 10.0 mm needles and did two rows of knit then two rows of purl and repeated ’til the yarn was gone.

Zanne Cowl

Finished test knitting myself a new cowl:

It’s the Zanne Cowl pattern by Galzanne Knits and is available for download on Ravelry for $3.50 USD, I really love this cowl and the pattern is superbly well written. 🙂

Lil’ Bunny Cupcake is complete!

I finished my Lil' Bunny Cupcake!!!
Turquoise isn’t really little though, I made her with a size 5.5 mm (I) hook so she’s more “toy-size” than “decoration-size” 🙂
It’s such an easy and quick pattern (I especially liked how the ears were worked, they were actually fun!) it would be a great introduction to amigurumi. I did add a little shawlette around her shoulders for some more color, I think amigurumi should always be colorful and fun (except maybe if it’s for Halloween or something like that) Anyway, here she is:

I’d rather be knitting!!

I had every intention of writing a nice long (maybe?) post on the herbs I finally got put in their pots….

(I have photographic proof! See!!)

But I guess I’ll leave that for later! I’m in the mood to get to knitting some hats, I finally found a really nice hat pattern that is knitted flat and than sewn togther (actually, there are two versions of the hat, it can be knitted in the round as well) Shilling is calling to me!! 😉
Speaking of hats, I found the perfect pattern for a batty person I know, Bathat is so cute! I might print out the charts and start it soon too.
